| Abstract: | This thesis examines the relationship between water management institutions and local water conflict and cooperation. Both formal and customary institutions are analysed and the study builds on qualitative fieldwork from two villages in the Usangu Plains, Tanzania. The thesis analyses both water conflict and cooperation in relation to three user groups: Irrigation farmers, pastoralists and domestic users. |
